LABELLE – The LaBelle Downtown Revitalization Corporation (LDRC) will host the annual Smoke Under the Oaks barbecue competition on Saturday, Jan. 13 in Barron Park.
Four-person teams will compete to serve up the best ribs in LaBelle. LDRC provides the ribs. Teams are responsible for cooking 32 racks of ribs each.
Meat can go on the grill as early as 5 a.m. Serving starts at 11 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. (earlier if they run out of ribs!)
Festival participants purchase tickets for ribs, which they can choose from any booth in the park. Dinners are also available. Those who purchase tickets to eat ribs are also given “People’s Choice” tickets. Visitors vote for their choice of best ribs by putting their People’s Choice ticket in the container at that booth.
Funds from this event will go towards revitalizing Barron Park and fulfilling the Barron Park Master Plan.
