Survey work to be performed on County Road 78

LABELLE – Beginning on Thursday, Aug. 18, Johnson Engineering, Inc. will be performing surveying services on County Road 78 from Hidden Hammock Drive to Kirby Thompson Road, approximately 1.4 miles, in LaBelle.

The surveying work is expected to last 50)days and will occur from Thursday, Aug. 18 to Wednesday, Oct. 26.

The work is being performed as part of the design work for the milling and resurfacing of CR78 from Hidden Hammock Drive to Kirby Thompson Road.

As part of the surveying effort, Johnson Engineering, Inc. may be required to go on private property to locate survey monumentation or to re-establish survey monumentation.

Please note surveyors are permitted to go on private property per Florida Statute (F.S.) 472.029 under certain conditions.
F.S. 472.029 Authorization to enter lands of third parties; conditions.—
(1) IN GENERAL.—Surveyors and mappers or their subordinates may go on, over, and upon the lands of others when necessary to make surveys and maps or locate or set monuments, and, in so doing, may carry with them their agents and employees necessary for that purpose. Entry under the right granted by this subsection does not constitute trespass, and surveyors and mappers and their duly authorized agents or employees so entering are not liable to arrest or to a civil action by reason of such entry; however, this subsection does not give authority to registrants, subordinates, agents, or employees to destroy, injure, damage, or move any physical improvements on lands of another without the written permission of the landowner.

Motorists should use extra caution when traveling on CR78 due to survey activity along the roadway.

Please note that this schedule is tentative and subject to change. The Hendry County Engineering Department will notify of any changes to the schedule.
