Take a close look at tax assessments

Posted

As Property Tax and Ad Valorem Assessments arrive, take a close look. If you’re a property owner for over years and no major changes, the state limits taxable values to an increase of 3% yearly. So most have an increase of 2.99999% on homes, almost the max.

Now take a look of the unregulated TAX the county/state has created to fund services, county or private.

EMS Assessment proposed may go up from $113 to $164, only a 40% increase and if you need to use the service, ambulance, you might get a $500 billing and mileage charge.

Then there is a FIRE proposal going up to $127, a 6% increase.

Last GARBAGE proposed to $360 from $300 a 20% increase.

So that is, if approved, an increase of $109 or 20%: I’m assuming your personal or fixed income has not increased that amount, then add the .029% on property value tax increase.

County now has a $21 million first charge for a new jail that will in the end be a $66 million total, or more. A new assessment line? LAW ENFORCEMENT?

If they only did half as good of a job at reducing expenses as they do building government? Maybe they are trying to keep up with the outrageous home insurance increases?
