Man accused of hiding gun while deputy waits for him

Posted

OKEECHOBEE — During questioning by a deputy, Trevon Bradshaw requested permission to go to his motel room to get his cell phone and received it. While he was away, he reportedly hid the bag he had been carrying, and the gun inside it, behind the motel.

On Friday, May 21 just before 10 a.m., a local deputy was dispatched to the 2700 block of U.S. 441 South in regards to a suspicious person complaint. While en route, he was told two males had caused a disturbance at the Handy Store. As he approached the area, he spotted two males matching the description he was given and attempted to make contact with them, but as he approached, they immediately ran across the highway. He told them to stop and crossed to that side of the road, only to have them run across the road again. The deputy was able to stop them by placing his vehicle in their path.

One of the males was identified as 22-year-old Trevon Bradshaw. The other was a minor. According to the arrest report, Bradshaw asked the deputy if he could walk over to his motel room to get his cell phone, saying it would help with his identification. When he left, he was carrying a black bag, but when he returned, he no longer had the bag.

When the bag was found behind the motel, it reportedly contained a Glock 22 .40 caliber, a magazine with 12 .40 caliber rounds, six Oxycodone pills, nine Trazadome pills and 16 Xanax pills.

Bradshaw was charged with resisting an officer without violence, carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, possession of Oxycodone, possession of Xanax and possession of Trazadone. His bond was set at $8,500.

The minor was charged with resisting an officer without violence and turned over to the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice.
