Posted

OKEECHOBEE — During a traffic stop for failure to dim high beams.  a man and woman were arrested.  Stacy Culler and the driver of the vehicle were arrested at approximately 2:30 a.m. Sunday, May 23  by Okeechobee City Police Officer Mark Lanning.

According to the arrest report, Lanning pulled the duo over near the 700 block of State Road 70 East for failure to dim headlights for oncoming traffic. When he asked the driver for his license, he handed him a Florida State ID and told the officer he had a license but not with him. When dispatch ran the driver’s name, they found he did not have a valid license. It had been suspended due to unpaid traffic fines. Both occupants of the vehicle were asked if they had anything illegal in their possession and both said no, but when asked if Lanning could search the vehicle, the driver told him there was no reason why his vehicle should be searched.

Officer Jessica Francis arrived on the scene, and they moved the traffic stop to the Subway parking lot for safety reasons. Francis utilized K9 Luna to check for drugs, and Luna reportedly alerted to the passenger side of the vehicle. A search reportedly revealed cocaine, a variety of pills and drug paraphernalia.

Culler was charged with four counts possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, two counts possession of a class 2 controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond was set at $71,000.

The driver was charged with driving with a suspended license, a misdemeanor.
