UF/IFAS Extension celebrates 30th anniversary

Posted

NAPLES -- The University of Florida/IFAS Extension Collier County will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Collier County office on Dec. 16, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with a rededication event. The Collier Extension office is located at 14700 Immokalee Road, Naples, Florida.

There will be tours of the gardens, groves, and gallery throughout the event. The rededication ceremony and ribbon cutting will be at 11 a.m. The public is invited to meet faculty and staff of the past and present and enjoy light refreshments. There will also be 30-year themed door prizes.

The UF/IFAS Extension helps people find practical solutions to problems specific to living in Florida and is the largest adult education and youth development organization in the world. While President Abraham Lincoln is ultimately responsible for the programs that led up to the creation of the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS), Florida’s governing body for higher education created IFAS in 1964.

Today, UF/IFAS includes offices in each of Florida’s 67 counties, providing education and support for their communities.

Two or more members of the Collier County Board of County Commissioners may be present.
