WaWa may begin building in the spring

Posted

OKEECHOBEE — According to Okeechobee City Administrator Marcos Montes de Oca, the WaWa Company is working on permits and may begin building in Okeechobee sometime around March 2021.

He said the Wawa Convenience Store is still on track, and though it seems to be taking longer than normal to be built, nothing is wrong. They have prepped the site and their build schedule was pushed off a little bit. It was a corporate thing, he explained.

They have already spent a large amount of money to relocate the utilities and to develop the site, he said. He added that COVID-19 may have contributed to the slowdown as well. “They typically don’t take this long, but there is nothing wrong. You can rest assured, it’s still coming,” Montes de Oca said.
