OKEECHOBEE – A grand jury issued an indictment July 13 in the Memorial Day murder that took place in Four Seasons.

The Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office issued a press release in June 2021 stating, “On May 31, 2021, Okeechobee County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Four Seasons area in reference to a shooting. After further investigation, 43-year-old Venus Doris Bubel was arrested on charges of second degree murder with a firearm and attempted first degree murder with a firearm/discharge of a firearm. Bubel is being held without bond. The adult female victim succumbed to her injuries. There is no further information to release at this time.”

The victim was later identified as Pamela Bearden.

Assistant State Attorney Ashley Albright said,   "The grand jury met yesterday and were presented with evidence and testimony regarding the arrest of Venus Bubel.  they returned an indictment on three counts,  first degree murder, aggravated assault with a firearm and tampering with evidence." He went on to say the case will make its way through the court system beginning with an arraignment.
