Posted

PAHOKEE — On Sunday, Jan. 14, 2024, the ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Mu Rho Omega chapter came together to commemorate the annual celebration of their founding principles and founding members. The remembrance program was held at Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 100 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Pahokee.

Founded on Jan. 15, 1908, Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority celebrates 116 years of being “Supreme in Service” to all mankind. Our purpose is to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards and be of service to all mankind. Alpha Kappa Alpha is a nonprofit organization in which the local chapter supports the financial disciplines of our service to Western Tri-Cities including Belle Glade, South Bay, Pahokee, and Clewiston.

Mu Rho Omega Chapter’s community fundraising efforts are used to award stellar Glades area high school graduating seniors scholarships to assist them in postsecondary institutions. Interested students should inquire with their Glades area high school counselors for more information on how to apply.
