School board passes a number of items during blackout

LABELLE -- Despite working in the dark during a power outage Sept. 18, the Hendry County School Board managed to work through the entire agenda, with the use of flashlights and cell phone illumination, discussing and voting on a variety of items.

Consent agenda items approved by the board in a 5-0 vote included:

Approval of Purchases

2023-24 Teacher Salary Increase Allocation Expenditure Plan

Hendry K12 Uniform Assessment Calendar 2023-2024

Non-instructional (bargaining) Salary Schedule

Letter of Agreement between Desoto County School Board and Glades, Hardee, Hendry, Highlands and Okeechobee County Boards

Agreement between the School Board of Hendry County and the Florida Department of Health, Hendry County Health Department

Non-exclusive Payroll Deduction Plan Agreement between BMG Money’s LoansatWork Program and HCSD

Monthly Financial Report

Personnel Recommendations were approved in a 4-1 vote, with Board Member Stephanie Busin casting the dissenting vote.
