IMMOKALEE -- Two Immokalee High School students received a grant from the Benison Center to aid them in starting and expanding their small businesses.
Alexavier Cook, a 10th grader, and Xavier Anzualda, a 12th grader, both applied for a grant to help them grow their lawn care businesses. Today, with the help of Frank Rincon from the Benison Center, they will be able to expand their businesses beyond previous limits.
Both students received a lawn mower, leaf blower, pole saw, edger and weed wacker for their businesses.
Students were also provided with a mentor, Armando Nunez, owner of Nunez Lawn Care, who will work with the students to help them grow and expand their businesses.
The students shared lunch with Mr. Nunez, Frank Rincon, IHS Principal Clara Calderon, and CCPS Board Member Tim Moshier. During the lunch, the students showed pictures of their work and enthusiastically asked questions of Nunez about how to acquire a business license and what type of challenges they might encounter in growing their business.
