Take advantage of the Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday May 28 - June 6

Experts are forecasting an active season

NAPLES — Collier County Clerk Crystal K. Kinzel is encouraging county residents to take advantage of the 2021 Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday that begins on Friday, May 28 and lasts through Sunday, June 6.

Passed by the Florida Legislature and signed into law by Gov. Ron DeSantis, the sales tax holiday provides the opportunity to purchase qualifying disaster preparedness supplies without having to pay sales tax. Qualifying supplies include batteries, radios, tarps, flashlights priced at $40 or less, and portable generators priced at $1,000 or less. Businesses are responsible for correctly exempting qualifying items during the sales tax holiday.

The 2021 Atlantic Hurricane Season officially begins on June 1 and ends on November 30. Hurricane forecasters have predicted an active season, with an “above-normal” number of named storms and hurricanes. Only four years ago, Hurricane Irma made landfall in Collier County and left in its wake extensive damage and long-lasting power outages.
