Big Brothers Big Sisters seniors receive scholarships

Posted

LABELLE — Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast is proud of the graduating seniors in our program who have been selected to receive 2-year scholarships.

This year, for the first time, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast have been blessed with a new and exciting Florida pre-paid scholarship opportunity for the 11th and 12th grade Littles enrolled in our program.

This is part of the Path to Prosperity program, created in partnership with Florida Power & Light, the Florida Chamber of Commerce, and Florida Prepaid College Plans.

The Path to Prosperity program will provide more youth with a pathway to college and part of a long-term strategic plan to achieve more educational and economic equity in Florida.

Four of those chosen for scholarships graduated from LaBelle High School on May 12.

Congratulations to all the awesome Littles who have been selected to receive 2-year scholarships:

Amaya Deleon  is seeking to earn a bachelor’s degree in Public Safety from Florida SouthWestern State College.

Esia Ramirez  has been accepted at Florida SouthWestern State College and plans to study business management and administration.

Zarya Kearse  has participated in our community based program since she was 9 years old. Zarya plans to attend Florida SouthWestern State College in the fall to study business entrepreneurship, then cosmetology, with the long-term goal of owning her own salon.

Danielle has been accepted at Florida SouthWestern State College and is seeking a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
