CLEWISTON — Skydive Spaceland Florida is the place to go if you are looking for adventure within driving distance.

On the other side of the camera for a change, Okeechobee photographer Judy Throop of Smiles and Wiggles Photography had a fantastic time experiencing skydiving for the first time. Although, she said it might not be her last jump.

Skydive Spaceland has several locations including Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers and Naples.

Offering both skydiving and parachute jumping, they accommodate singles and groups.

According to its website, Skydive Spaceland is the perfect choice for your next adventure because “At Skydive Spaceland, we want you to have the best skydiving experience possible! We’re one of the largest skydiving centers in the world with a purpose-built, private airfield and top-of-the-line everything to ensure you have a safe, exciting, comfortable skydiving experience. Not all drop zones can deliver the same top-quality experience we can, so we’ve put together a comparison of Skydive Spaceland vs. a typical small drop zone below to help you make the best choice when you select your skydiving center.”

When deciding on your jump, you will have to make some choices, the website explains:

  • Jump altitude

The higher above the ground you are when exiting the aircraft, the higher the cost usually. But you have to remember the time you are in freefall is shorter from a lower altitude. Do you want to pay for a jump that lasts 15-20 seconds or 60 seconds?

  • Location

There are two things to consider, convenience and experience. If the location is closer to you, it cuts down on driving time, but some locations are worth the drive such as those on beaches or foreign locations.

  • Aircraft

Most companies use smaller aircraft which can accommodate small groups. If you plan to take a large group, you will need a company with a larger aircraft.

  • Video/photos

You will want to be sure your choice offers video/photos and discuss the cost in advance.

Prices vary based on the package you choose.

Most Skydive Spaceland locations are open seven days a week. Call 863-983-6151 or visit https://florida.skydivespaceland.com/ for more information. The Clewiston location can be found at 1090 Airglades Blvd.
