A half-cent surtax just makes sense for the community and kids

Posted

For generations, my family has lived in Hendry County. This is my home, and I work every day to make it better. As the Superintendent of the Hendry County School District, my job is to make our school system the best it can be for its students, staff and volunteers. This November, members of Hendry County have an opportunity to help me and my team with much-needed improvements via the proposed half-cent surtax.

If passed, the Hendry County School District will have the money to conduct renovations on outdated schools, replace technology, install new security measures, and improve our buses.

The District and I continue to put students’ needs first, which is why I am encouraging you, my fellow Hendry County community members, to educate yourselves on this surtax and to understand the possible impact. A small commitment from our community will have a great influence on our children.

You can learn more about the surtax on the district website as you prepare to vote on Nov. 8. A half-cent just makes sense - for our community and our children.
