OKEECHOBEE — The Brahman Athletic Association recently received a generous donation from The Altobello Family Donor Advised Fund. “Donations like these can truly make a lifelong impact on the youth of our community.

Studies have shown that high school athletes have a higher GPA, attendance rate, and graduation success rate than students who aren’t involved in sports. So our purpose is bigger than just providing sports teams with new equipment, it’s about providing the students at Okeechobee High School the best possible chance for success in life.” says Larry Davis, president of the Brahman Athletic Association.

The Brahman Athletic Assoc. is a group of community members, many former Brahmans themselves, who feel compelled to help the athletic programs at Okeechobee High School grow and thrive. Ultimately, they help to bridge the gap between what teams have and what athletes need to be successful. In the past year the Brahman Athletic Assoc. has helped to purchase new helmets for the football team, timing software for the swim team, equipment for the soccer, track and lacrosse teams. They also covered lodging & travel expenses for the wrestling, weightlifting, tennis, and fishing teams who’ve qualified to compete beyond the district level. This is all made possible by fundraising efforts and community donations.

The Altobello Family Donor Advised Fund has been a huge supporter of the Brahman athletes! The recent $30,000 donation made will benefit the OHS Swim Team and allow them to purchase a new scoreboard and equipment including touch pads that are placed inside the pool that automatically stops the clock allowing for more accurate lap times. This is not the first time the Altobello Family Foundation has made a sizable donation. Last year the OHS Baseball team received $25,000 to make some much needed updates and renovations to the press box. The Brahman Athletic Assoc. and OHS athletic coaches are extremely grateful for the continued support from The Altobello Family Donor Advised Fund.

The Brahman Athletic Assoc. holds board meetings the first Monday of every month at 6:30 p.m. at Okeechobee High School.
