• Clewiston Tigers (6-2)
The Clewiston Tigers’ season came to an end last week with their 37-7 loss to Cardinal Gibbons in the regional quarterfinals on Nov. 13. The Tigers had been one of the best teams around the lake this season, but drew a tough first game against a powerhouse Cardinal Gibbons program in the playoffs.
“We worked really hard and wanted to have a team that Clewiston could be proud of,” said Tigers coach Pete Walker after the game. “We sure had that, and I know our coaches are very proud. We talk to the kids all the time about being the team that puts us back on the map. I’m just very appreciative of our seniors, team and coaches. I can’t say enough good things about these guys.”

Cardinal Gibbons jumped up on the Tigers early, but Clewiston didn’t quit and fought until the final whistle.
“Our guys played together like a team,” said Walker of the Tigers’ performance this year. “And that showed up on the field on Friday nights. We just came up short tonight.”

• Moore Haven Terriers (2-2)

More than any other team around the lake this year, the Moore Haven Terriers’ season has been the most affected by COVID-19. The Terriers missed a chunk of their season due to positive cases in the school. And now they just technically won their first scheduled playoff game due to it as well. The Terriers were scheduled to face the Neumann Celtics in the regional quarterfinals last week, but Neumann forfeited the game after a few students tested positive for the virus. That leaves the Terriers as the last team standing around the lake competing in the FHSAA football playoffs.
Next the Terriers face one of the strongest teams in the region, the Champagnat Catholic Lions. The Lions blew through the Glades Day Gators two weeks ago, winning 65-7. The Terriers will play the Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 20.
