Football around Lake Okeechobee is starting up again. Last week teams took the field for the first time and competed in their kickoff classic games. This week, the regular season officially begins.

  • Moore Haven Terriers

The Moore Haven Terriers defeated the Glades Central Raiders in their kickoff classic last week 23-0. Senior quarterback Lawrence Wright had two rushing touchdowns against the Raiders, while sophomore Truvonta Moody returned an interception 60-yards for another touchdown.  Moore Haven will be on the road this week, taking on the Leesburg Yellow Jackets at 7 p.m. on Aug. 25.

  • Pahokee Blue Devils

The Pahokee Blue Devils shut out the Centennial Eagles 41-0 last week. Pahokee has a new head coach this season, Matthew Sparrowhawk. Last season, head coach Emmanuel Hendrix had the Blue Devils in the state semifinals. Hendrix was let go by Pahokee over the offseason, but is now the defensive coordinator at Moore Haven. The Blue Devils will be on the road this week playing the Santaluces Chiefs. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 25.

  • Clewiston Tigers

The Clewiston Tigers hosted a very good Benjamin Buccaneers last week, with the Buccaneers leaving with a 42-18 win. The Tigers have a new head coach this season, Andrew Powell. Powell is a former Tiger himself and played on the defensive line at Mississippi State and Baltimore Ravens. The Tigers are back home again this week, hosting the Key West Key West Conchs at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 25.

  • Okeechobee Brahmans

The Okeechobee Brahmans beat Palm Beach Lakes Rams 12-0 in their kickoff classic. Okeechobee scored two safeties in the second half on two botched punts by the Rams. This week the Brahmans start a two-game road trip, starting with a game against the DeSoto Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 25.

  • Glades Day Gators

The Glades Day Gators defeated the Palm Beach Christian Saints 42-6 last week. The Gators racked up 280 yards of total offense against the Saints defense. Senior Marquis Clarke had three touchdowns against the Saints. This week the Gators are on the road to take on the LaBelle Cowboys at 7 p.m. on Aug. 25.

  • Glades Central Raiders

The Glades Central Raiders fell to the Moore Haven Terriers 23-0 last week. The game was a mini Muck Bowl rematch with the addition of former Pahokee coaches Emmanuel Hendrix and David Simmons to the Moore Haven coaching staff. This week the Raiders will be on the road to play the Seminole Ridge Hawks at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 24.
