There’s a few Thursday games in football around the lake this week, with the Okeechobee Brahmans scheduled to play their first district game of the season against Westwood.
Okeechobee Brahmans (3-1)
The Okeechobee Brahmans are coming off their bye week. Which let them rest up and regroup ahead of their first district game of the season. The Brahmans play on Thursday this week, Sept. 28, and will be taking on the Fort Pierce Westwood Panthers. The Panthers are also 3-1 and coming off their bye as well. Westwood already defeated the only team to beat Okeechobee this season, South Fork. The Panthers took an 18-16 win over South Fork back on Aug. 31. The Brahmans will be on the road to tak on the Panthers with kickoff at 7 p.m. on Sept. 28.
Moore Haven Terriers (3-2)
The Moore Haven Terriers shutout Gateway Charter last week 58-0, a good bounce back win after falling 40-6 to Appling County the week prior. Up next the Terriers are on the road to take on the Southwest Florida Christian Kings on Sept. 28. Last season the Terriers dominated the Kings 62-28 in Moore Haven. The Terriers and Kings kickoff at 7 p.m. on Sept. 28.
Pahokee Blue Devils (3-2)
The Pahokee Blue Devils bounced back following their tough 33-30 loss in overtime to Palm Beach Central by defeating the Palm Beach Gardens Gators 34-18 last week. Senior Henry Boyd threw for 226 yards and three touchdowns. Pahokee is away this week, taking on the 1-4 Dwyer Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 29.
Glades Day Gators (2-3)
After opening the season 0-3, the Glades Day Gators have stacked back-to-back wins over Marco Island and Oxbridge Academy The Gators dominated Marco Island 61-6 and defeated Oxbridge 28-6. Glades Day is on a bye this week before entering the last leg of the regular season in October. The Gators will be back on the field on Oct. 5 when they hit the road to face the Canterbury Cougars .
Clewiston Tigers (1-2)
The Clewiston Tigers opened their season with a 28-21 win over the Key West Conchs, but inclement weather forced them to cancel their week two matchup, and a bye in week three meant the Tigers had a long wait before they played again. In their first game back they fell to Calvary Christian Academy 42-7 on Sept. 15. Last week the Tigers hosted Dunbar in Clewiston. The Dunbar defense harassed the Clewiston offensive line all game, making it hard for the Tigers to get any momentum. Dunbar went on to win 35-7. This week Clewiston is on the road facing the 3-2 Hardee Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 29.
Glades Central Raiders (0-4)
The Glades Central Raiders nearly got their first win of the season last week, falling to the Dwyer Panthers 24-21. The Raiders battled to overtime against the Panthers. After Dwyer kicked a field goal, the Raiders looked like they were on the verge of responding with a touchdown to win the game, but a fumble on the goaline recovered by the Panthers ended the game. This week the Raiders are hosting Benjamin at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 28.
