CLEWISTON -- The Harlem Community Garden in Hendry County makes its debut on Friday, Nov. 19, at 10 am in Clewiston. The garden is a partnership between Hendry County, the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Sugar, University of Florida's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS), Harlem Tenants Association and local residents.
During the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony, local leaders will share what this garden will mean to the neighbors who live in the area. Small plots of local produce have been grown by community organizations, churches, and clubs from throughout Hendry County.
Following brief remarks and a grand opening ceremony, food trucks will be on hand for food and refreshments.
