OKEECHOBEE- The Okeechobee High School Lady Brahman varsity volleyball team finished the season as regional runners-up, after falling to Jensen Beach in the regional final 0-3.

The Lady Brahmans opened the regional tournament with a 3-0 win over Hialeah in the quarterfinal, taking the first set 25-14, second set 25-11, and winning the third set in dramatic fashion 26-24.

That advanced Okeechobee to the semifinals where they faced Archbishop McCarthy. The Lady Brahmans won the first and second sets, but Archbishop came back to win the third set 25-18. Okeechobee took care of business in the fourth set, however, winning 25-13 and securing the 3-1 victory.

In the regional final, the Lady Brahmans faced yet another rematch against their district rival the Jensen Beach Lady Falcons. In the final game of the regular season, Okeechobee took Jensen Beach all the way to the fifth set before falling 3-2. The Lady Falcons held off any hopes of an upset this time though, winning 3-0 in the regional final.

The performance in the playoffs caps off a successful season for the Lady Brahman volleyball squad. Okeechobee went on an 8-game win streak in the middle of the season, and secured the number two seed in the district. Senior Sydney Matthews led the team in kills this year with 202, followed by Penelope Van Eman with 154. Junior Aubrey Clay had a team leading 28 blocks this season, while senior Lexi Thomas had the most assists on the team with 237.
