Letter to the Editor: America what’s happening?

I was lucky enough to be born in the 1940s. Grew up on a farm in a small community. Everyone knew everyone. If someone needed help the community went together and helped, no pay required. Now I know two families in the entire community I live in. People don’t have time to visit. Both parents have to work just to survive.

Our government sends countries money to rebuild their country which they destroyed by civil wars.

Our soldiers are sent to fight a war we don’t belong in. When they come home they can’t get the medical and mental help they need. No one who fights for us should ever go hungry or without a place to live.

We have let our defense program fall behind and now Russia and China are threatening nuclear war, which would destroy our world as we know it.

Individual states legalized weed. Other states still spend millions on drug enforcement that is legal in other states. Legalize it, tax it, and control its content.

The crazies who do speed, meth, coke and heroin should be dealt with harshly. These drugs ruin families and cost millions to keep under control.

Then on the other hand we put them in prison and give them meals, free meds, free health care, TV and exercise programs. Our senior citizens would love to have those privileges.

The death penalty should be reinstated with guidelines to prevent anyone from being executed that did not do the crime.

The short term prisoners need to be required to learn a trade for when they get out.

It seems everyone is offended by something. They want laws to make us think like they do. If it offends you then get away from it and leave it be.

We don’t enforce the laws now. Deals are made and criminals walk free if they have enough money to buy one.

The silent majority has had enough. Good people will only take so much abuse. Our country has millions of good people who try everyday to make our country great again.

We are a melting pot of people from all over the world. No matter the color of your skin or where you are from, we all have good people and bad people in our nationalities.

When the time comes when you can’t feed your family or provide a home for them what will you be, good or bad?

Our country is the greatest free nation in the world. We can complain about anything and not be locked up or killed.

My theory is each day I try to make a difference - a smile, open a door, help those I can. We all need to be kind.

Do what you can to make the world a better place than it was yesterday.

But what do I know I’m just an old citified country boy.
