Thursday, May 20, 1:30 p.m., — Book Discussion: “Everything Inside: Stories,” by Edwidge Danticat — Join in a lively discussion of Haitian American author Edwidge Danticat’s acclaimed short story collection. Print, audio and electronic copies of the book are available. (60 min.)

Thursday, May 27, 2 p.m. — Celebrate Haitian Heritage Month: Virtual Tour of the Haitian American Museum of Chicago — The Haitian American Museum of Chicago (HAMOC) is the realization of a dream by its co-founder, Elsie Hernandez. Since 2012 the museum has hosted a wide array of programs and exhibits showcasing Haiti’s rich culture and art as well as its complex history. Enjoy a virtual tour with a Q&A session to follow. Sunday, May 23, 11 a.m. — Book Discussion - Teen Volunteer Hours! — Meet Alaine Beauparlant. She is 17, smart, witty and lives in Miami. After a school presentation goes array, she goes on a journey and discovers the beauty of her Haitian heritage. Read this YA book and be prepared to discuss it at our teen book club! Earn volunteer hours for reading this enthralling story. Materials needed: a copy of the book, “Dear Haiti, Love Alaine,” by Maika and Maritza Moulite (available in print, e-book and audiobook), any notes that you wish to share, pen/pencil and paper.
