Please stand six feet apart

How many times have we read those words. Hopefully, what they stood for will never return. Two years ago, we were frightened beyond anything we could have ever imagined…trapped in our homes for some time, wearing masks everywhere we went. It was a frightening part of our history. Thankfully, that experience is in the past. But when I saw one of those signs just the other day, I found myself thinking about a miracle that wouldn’t have taken place with such a “distance mandate.”

Jesus is on His way to the house of an important man to cure his daughter, who was at the point of death. And on the way there, Jesus is touched by a woman in the crowd. The woman was sick and believed that if she simply touched the hem of Jesus’ garment, she would be cured. And she was. But that wouldn’t have happened if there had been a mandate to remain six feet apart! There would have been no crowd around Jesus, and there would have been no miracle for the woman with such great faith.

Life has moved on since our “six feet apart” mandate, but those eyesore messages remain in many places of business that we frequent. Instead of remembering what we went through when you see one, take a moment and thank God for a normal life again, for close relationships. And, most importantly, remember that your God never paid attention to staying six feet apart from you!
