Call about Medicare could be a scam

Posted

OKEECHOBEE — An Okeechobee woman is warning others about a possible phone scam involving Medicare.

She said she received a phone call from someone identifying themselves as a Medicare representative. The caller claimed Medicare numbers were changing and all cards need to be updated.

Then the caller asked for the woman's Medicare number.

She replied she does not give out that information over the phone and hung up. She then reported it to the Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office.

"I know not to ever give out personal information over the phone," she explained. She said others might not be so wary.

Medicare, scam, Okeechobee
