OKEECHOBEE — Friday evening, Oct. 16, the Martha’s House’s Chobee Steelers steel drum band performed their free fall concert in Flagler Park. This year, Martha’s House domestic violence victims services agency was asking attendees to sign a pledge to support victims of domestic violence.

Relationship abuse can be very frightening and isolating. So, if someone needs help, let them know they are not alone … Today, I pledge to listen without judgment, support by believing, speak up when needed, and to help build a community that is safe and just for every person. Will you take that pledge?

Join Martha’s House Saturday, Oct. 24 at 10 a.m. in Flagler Park for the Walk in Her Shoes simulation. Spend an hour walking through a story of a day in the life of a domestic violence victim trying to manage the outcomes of relationship abuse. It will be a moving and eye-opening experience.
