Crowns for a Cure accepting applications now

OKEECHOBEE — It's that time again! The Crowns for a Cure Pageant is accepting contestants now. 

"This pageant is about so much more than just a crown and sash. We hope to not only raise funds but also raise awareness for the American Heart Association this year. 100% of the proceeds will go to this great cause! We have raised over $30,000 for various organizations including JDRF ( a non-profit funding research for Type I diabetes), BCRF (Breast Cancer Research), and Care Camps (special camps for children with cancer)," said pageant founder Taylor Fulford.

Crowns for a Cure is searching for contestants who are willing and excited to be active in their community by attending events throughout this year.

Special guests at this year's Crowns for a Cure include Miss America, Miss USA, Miss Florida Teen USA, Miss Florida USA, and others!

"Pack up those dresses, curling irons, smiles, and we will see you April 1 at the Okeechobee KOA Resort!" said Fulford.

Printed applications are available for pick up at the Chamber of Commerce of Okeechobee County, Bittner Bridal in Lake Placid, Cut n Up Salon in Sebring,

The standard entry fee to enter is $75, the additional categories (Best Dressed, Most Beautiful, Most Photogenic & Overall Winner) It is $100 all together. All of the proceeds will go to the American Heart Association so it all goes towards a good cause!

Contestants must submit a completed application and an 8x10 photogenic headshot to the Okeechobee Chamber of Commerce by March 24 before 4 p.m. although the sooner the better! Payment must be paid in full by this date as well. Either by Paypal, Zelle or Cashapp $crownsforacureokee.

There will be a rehearsal Friday, March 31 at 5 p.m. at the KOA. The pageant will be the following day April 1 starting at 3 p.m. for 0-9 year olds and at 7 pm for 10-19 years old. Contestants are asked to be there by 2 p.m. (0-9)/ 6 p.m. (10-19).

DEADLINE for entry is  March 24 before 4 p.m. Applications must be turned in and payment made prior to this date and time.

There will be a $5 entry fee for adults. Children 3 and under are free. Attendees, please wear red to show support for the American Heart Association.
