OKEECHOBEE — The Education Foundation of Okeechobee is proud to announce its partnership with Publix in a transformative initiative to support The Pencil Depot, a free student supply store. Through this collaboration, the Education Foundation aims to provide essential learning materials to students in need, ensuring they have the tools required for academic success.

In Okeechobee, where 37.3% of children live in poverty, access to basic learning materials can be a significant barrier to educational success. Teachers, dedicated to their students’ growth, have often had to dip into their own pockets to provide necessary supplies. Recognizing this pressing need, the Education Foundation of Okeechobee is determined to bridge the gap and empower students through The Pencil Depot.

Last year, the Education Foundation of Okeechobee raised over $7,000 in support of The Pencil Depot. This remarkable achievement inspired the Foundation to continue its mission of empowering students and enhancing educational opportunities for all.

The Pencil Depot serves as a vital resource, delivering high-quality supplies directly to local schools and placing them into the hands of students who lack access to essential learning materials. By alleviating the financial burden on students and teachers, The Pencil Depot enables them to focus on what matters most - learning and teaching.

From June 12- 23rd, Publix shoppers can contribute to The Pencil Depot simply by donating at checkout. Every donation, no matter the size, will directly support the purchase and distribution of supplies through The Pencil Depot.
