OKEECHOBEE – Florida Department of Transportation will begin work on Jan. 23 to make improvements to State Road 70 from east of U.S. 441 to N.E. 17th Avenue. The project is approximately one mile.

The project will include:

  • Resurface SR 70 from east of US 441 to NE 17th Avenue,
  • Improve drainage,
  • Install curb, gutter and guardrail,
  • Add traffic signals at 5th, 8th and 10th Avenues,
  • Install street lighting along SR 70,
  • Install signage and pavement markers.

Estimated cost of the project is $5.5 million.

Construction will begin Jan. 23 and is estimated to be completed in the fall of this year.

During construction there will be daytime and nighttime lane closures from on SR 70 from east of US 441 to NE 17th Avenue.
