The “Okeechobee County Friend of 4-H” Award was first established over thirty years ago in 1989. It continues to honor persons or organizations that have gone above and beyond to provide resources, time, and expertise to the 4-H’ers of Okeechobee County. Continuing this tradition, this year’s honoree has distinguished himself as a very valuable and knowledgeable member to the success of the 4-H program, its youth members, and adult volunteers in Okeechobee County.
When members and volunteers shared why they chose Jonesy as their Okeechobee County Friend of 4-H, the responses were quite honorable. Jonesy is “always there to answer questions.” He “promotes every kid and is very good to the graduating seniors.” Others shared that “Jonesy is the kindest, caring, and most giving person.” He has supported youth in their projects through giving his time, experience, and knowledge. “He is just a down to earth, caring, and great man that has gone unnoticed for the many things that he offers and does.”
All these comments make it clear that Jonesy has been a huge part of making 4-H in Okeechobee County a success. 4-H is better because of his giving, his knowledge, and the community outreach that he provides to our youth. It is evident that Jeff Jones is a true Friend of 4-H.
