OCSO and GCSO locate fleeing suspects

Posted

OKEECHOBEE — Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office is currently assisting the Glades County Sheriff's Offices deputies who were pursuing a fleeing felon from their county. The felon lost control of their vehicle and crashed in the Okee-Tantie area, once coming into Okeechobee County.

We are actively working on the scene, and this area will be busy for several hours while the investigation continues. We are confident all occupants have been accounted for and are currently in custody.

Okeechobee resident Rob Wilson had this to say, "It landed in the Okee-Tantie’s Lakeview RV Park, a privately owned 55+ Park next to Bass Pro. No one in the park was hurt, except the driver and crew. The OUA water pipes were barely missed. The park sign damaged. Several Hwy Palms were shaved off, slowing down the airborne vehicle. It’s a mess though. It seems all those helping, officers, detectives, etc are doing a very good job. I do thank you."

When asked if the fleeing vehicle was a plane or helicopter, he replied, " “Dukes of Hazard” style Rosco!"
