Okeechobee church switches to online services

Posted

OKEECHOBEE — New Testament Baptist Church in Okeechobee is now having virtual services only, livestreamed online, according to a Dec. 12 post on the church’s Facebook page.

“I have made light of this thing a few times, but I can promise you, you don’t want to get it,” said Pastor Adam Sumner in a video posted Sunday, Dec. 13. “I did try to take the precautions I felt like I ought to take, but I still got it.”

The pastor announced they hope to resume in-person services at the church on Dec. 27.

“If you start feeling sick in between that time, let us know, let somebody know, and make sure you quarantine yourself and do what you are supposed to do,” he said.

“Just be careful,” he said. “But we can’t just live in fear all the time. Be safe and be careful.”
