Okeechobee County Airport to begin rehabilitating runway in mid-October

Posted

OKEECHOBEE — The Okeechobee County Airport will begin rehabilitating runway 05-23, the primary runway, in mid-October. This rehabilitation effort will include milling and replacing existing asphalt pavement, removal of existing asphalt shoulders, replacing airfield lighting and signage, and installing new pavement markings and runway grooving.

During the rehabilitation, runway 05-23 will be closed. Substantial completion is expected to be 120 days (4 months) after the Notice to Proceed has been issued to the contractor. Runway 14-32 will remain open with the exception of rehabilitation work that takes place at the intersection of Taxiway B and Runway 05-23. This intersection work will occur overnight to minimize downtime to the airport.
