Okeechobee schools closed Wednesday and Thursday
Posted
Special to Lake Okeechobee News
All Okeechobee County Schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday due to Tropical Storm Nicole. This decision was based on the wind field radius expected as early as Wednesday morning.
"Our preliminary calculations still have us meeting our instructional hours as required by Florida Statute. Pending DOE approval, we believe we will still get Thanksgiving week off," the Okeechobee County School District shared on social media Tuesday. "It remains too early to tell if we will need to cancel school on Friday. Let's all hope and pray for light winds and minimal rainfall."
