Posted

OKEECHOBEE – The new Okeechobee County Jail addition is now successfully occupied.  At the Sept. 28 meeting of the Okeechobee County Commission, Paul Fernandez with Ajax Builders said so far everything is going smoothly,

With the inmates transferred to the new facility, the utilities were disconnected from the old jail housing pod and any usable equipment and fixtures removed in preparation for that pod to be demolished. Demolition is under way, and the site will be prepared for the next phase of construction.

The new Fire Training Tower is nearly complete.

Joe Mrak of Securitecture Construction said they have received final approval on the kitchen and laundry building. They are preparing the bid documents for the Phase 2 Housing Pod.
