Reflections from the Pulpit: Does it feel like you have been in a battle lately?

Posted

I know that for me and my house we have seen a lot of change since the shutdown of 2020 and the prices for everything has gone up and it seems that we have hard times around every corner.

In Exodus 17 Amalek came to war against Israel and Moses chose some men to go out and fight and he went to the mountain top and rose his hands to the lord with a staff and as long as he kept his hands in the air surrendering the fight to the Lord the battle was being won by Israel but when he grew tired and lowered his hands the battle turned in the favor of Amalek.

Aaron and Hur saw that he was struggling and came to aid him and gave him a rock to sit on (a stable foundation to stabilize him) and they came along side him under his arms giving him support throughout the duration of the battle until Israel was victorious. This is the best example of why we should seek out our church family to come along side one another supporting each other and reminding one another of the rock-solid foundation found only found through Jesus Christ.

Since the shutdown the world has changed and the biggest that I have seen is a lot of people only attend church through TV or the internet and we have separated ourselves from the support of our church family as we struggle during our battles. I say all the time watching Church Online is like watching a fireplace on TV, it’s pretty but you cannot feel the Heat. I would like to remind all of you we should not forsake the assembly of the brethren Hebrews 10:25 but we should run to our Church family even if we aren’t in need, but we might be the support for someone going through a battle.

1 Peter 5:8 says that our adversary the Devil roams around like a Lion seeking who he could devour he is looking for the weak ones on the outside of the herd (Church Family) without protection and support and devours them. I would like to encourage everyone to pray and seek out the family he picks for you to come along side to support and to receive help in your time of need. God Bless.

Moses, church, hard times, Jesus Christ
