OKEECHOBEE — During the evening shift of July 4th, 2023, the Uniformed Patrol set up a special DUI and Traffic Team to help keep our roads safer for the holiday.
During these hours, the traffic team conducted 42 traffic stops, resulting in the following outcomes.
Four arrests were made stemming from:
2 Driving Under the Influence / DUI;
1 Driving While License Suspended With Knowledge or Revoked DWLS/R;
1 NO Driver License.
The following are citations or warnings given out for the evening:
2 DWLS without knowledge,;
1 iomproper lane change;
21 speeding;
1 obscured tag;
11 Eeuipment violations (faulty equipment);
3 expired tag less than six months;
1 window tint A/S 1 line (full frontal window tint);
1 no headlights after darkness;
1 no taillights;
1 white light illuminating from the rear of the vehicle;
1 no red lens over taillights.
Traffic enforcement is a growing issue in all communities. As we grow, so does the traffic that comes with it.
These details are a continued effort for our community to stay safe, stay educated on the traffic laws and ever-changing areas and help serve as a warning for those that drive recklessly or illegally within our county.
