OKEECHOBEE — The annual America First Target Clay Shoot will be held at the OK Corral Gun Club in Okeechobee, Jan. 14, 2023. The shoot starts at 8:30 a.m., while check-in starts at 8 a.m.. The event draws sport and competitive shooters from central and south Florida. Nearly 100 shooters showed up for last year’s event and preparations are being made for 130 shooters this year. Shooters compete for prizes including Custom YETI coolers filled with merchandise, along with customary trophies. In addition to the highest 3 shooters, there are awards for the highest female shooters and for the highest shooters under 18 years of age. Prizes include firearms and accessories, gift certificates, and products and services donated by local stores and restaurants.
The event features a competition by local political figures, including a shoot-out between Congressman Brian Mast and Richard Del Toro, assistant police chief and candidate for sheriff of St. Lucie County.
