OKEECHOBEE — As Tropical Storm Nicole nears Florida, Okeechobee County was experiencing some high winds and rain on Wednesday, Nov. 9. For the safety of employees and patrons, some stores are closing early today.

Publix, 3551 U.S. 441 S., will close at noon. If there is no storm damage, they plan to reopen at 9 a.m. 863-763-7070

Walmart, 2101 S. Parrott Avenue will close at 1 p.m. A decisiohn about reopening will be made after the storm passes.  863-763-7070

Walgreens, 100 N.W. Park Street, has not made a determination about closing as of 11 a.m. 863-357-1754 

CVS , 106 N. Parrott Ave. has not made a decision about closing as of 11 a.m. 863-763-3169 

Aldi Supermarket, 330 S. Parrott Avenue will close at 4 p.m. A decision about reopening will be made after the storm passes. 855-955-2534

WaWa on SR 70 plans to stay open unless they lose power.

 Winn-Dixie,  3246 U.S. 441, no information yet. 863-763-8354.   

Superior Water will close at noon today and reopen Monday at 8 a.m.

Mosquito Creek Grocery, 5500 State Road 70 E, will close at 5 p.m. 863-763-7412.

Okeechobee County schools are closed Wednesday and Thursday.
