OKEECHOBEE — An 18-year-oldwas charged with burglary after he was found with a bike that did not belong to him. On Thursday, March 4 at approximately 6:15 p.m., Okeechobee City Police Officer Mark Lanning was dispatched to the Big O Drive Thru in reference to a theft. When he arrived, he was told the suspect they had been looking for regarding a stolen bicycle was there.
When asked where he got the bike, the suspect, Brandon Perez, reportedly said he was just borrowing it and planned to return it later.
When the bike owner came to pick up her bicycle, she brought security footage from her neighbor’s camera. The footage showed a male, matching the description of Perez, wearing a white face covering, walk onto her property and grab the bike from the overhang on her front porch.
Perez’ bond was set at $5,000.
