The pedestrian bridge over the S-191 water control structure at Nubbin Slough closed

Posted

OKEECHOBEE - The pedestrian bridge over the S-191 water control structure at Nubbin Slough on the north shore of Lake Okeechobee will be periodically closed to public access over the next few months to ensure public safety during ongoing construction work.

  • Effective immediately through March 11, the bridge will be closed to public access Mondays through Thursdays. The bridge will be open Fridays through Sundays.
  • March 12 through April 18, the bridge will be open to the public seven days a week.
  • April 19 through May 17, the bridge will be closed again on Mondays through Thursdays. The bridge will be open to the public on Fridays through Sundays.

The closures are necessary to ensure public safety as gates on the S-191 structure are replaced. The work is expected to be completed in May 2021, and the bridge is expected to be reopened to public access full time after repairs are completed.
