Thefts on the water upset residents

OKEECHOBEE — On Monday night, thieves got away with a boat and a motor from two different houses on Southeast Eighth Avenue backing on the creek.

This motor was stolen Monday night from a home on Southeast Eighth Avenue.

One woman said her Yamaha 20 hp was taken right off her boat by someone who came by water. "Our boat was up in our yard. I don't think they knew how to get the boat down," she said.

She is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the return of the motor.

A second victim was not as lucky. His entire boat was taken. He has video footage of the crime and said the man who took his boat had a female accomplice.

He is also offering a $500 reward.

Okeechobee City Police are investigating the two crimes.
