OKEECHOBEE — A 29-year-old Miami man was killed Monday at approximately 8:30 p.m. when the sedan he was driving struck a truck/tractor on the turnpike near mile post 188. The truck was traveling southbound in the left lane, and the sedan was traveling northbound in the right lane. The truck made a U-turn on a paved road and when re-entering the roadway, the 61-year-old driver from Lake Worth entered the right northbound lane. The sedan was unable to stop in time and collided with the truck. The area where the accident occured was a construction zone and the left lanes for both north and south bound traffic were closed. The driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver was uninjured.
