OKEECHOBEE -- Okeechobee VFW Big Lake Post #10539 proudly dedicated a new flag pole and flag on Nov. 1.
"What a fantastic turnout for our Flag Raising Ceremony," stated Post Commander George Bailey. "We are so very thankful for all of the wonderful support we receive from our community, law enforcement., first responders, county officials, our members and volunteers.
"We exist to honor and to help serve those who have sacrificed so much for the freedom we have today," he added. "This new flag pole is dedicated to ALL who came before us and to those valiant men and women that are here for each and every one of us today.
"There were many, many people that made this day possible for our Post and our community from generous monetary donations to volunteers of time, labor and materials. Special thanks to CWR Contracting Inc. and Jeff Barkley for their donations of concrete and materials," he continued.
"And thank you, thank you, thank you to our Post and Auxiliary Members who always step up when needed."
