School volunteer recognized for excellence

OKEECHOBEE — During the Sept. 7 Okeechobee County School Board meeting, Michelle Cohen was awarded the FLDOE Outstanding School Volunteer Award for Okeechobee County Schools.

Cohen volunteers in multiple areas of the Okeechobee County School system including band, school advisory council, district advisory council, code of conduct review committeee, Ag-Venutre and mentor program. 

The person who nominated her wrote, "Michelle Cohen is all about students in Okeechobee County. She and her family moved to Okeechobee from Broward, the Parkland area, after the tragedy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Upon moving and enrolled her daughter, currently a senior (now graduated), and son,

currently a freshman (now a sophmore), she and her husband, Adam, became very active in our schools. Michelle is willing to assist in any regard."
