OKEECHOBEE — After a 911 call advising a woman was yelling for help, Okeechobee City Police Officer Ramon Liberato responded to the corner of Northwest Ninth Avenue and Northwest Ninth Street. The caller also believed the woman who was yelling had left a syringe near the First Missionary Baptist Church. It was not there before the woman walked by but was there later, the caller said.

Liberato made contact with the crying woman, later identified as Ashley Cyr, 35, Northwest 151st Terrace. He asked her if she needed help, and she reportedly said she did not need help, but the longer he stood there talking to her, the more she fidgeted and seemed to be hallucinating. Liberato notes, she began yelling at people who were not actually there, and he noticed track marks on her arms.

Officer Jessica Francis responded to the scene and was given consent to search Cyr. The search reportedly uncovered new Brillo in Cyr’s purse and cocaine residue on a bottle cap located in Cyr’s bra.

She was charged with possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond was set at $5,750.

Cyr has been arrested 8 times prior to this in Okeechobee, beginning in 2012 with a charge of driving on a suspended license. Her charges through the years have ranged from battery to petit theft to grand theft to possession of drugs. The sentences for these crimes have ranged from 10 days in county jail to one year plus one day in state prison.
