Lake Placid man killed in single-vehicle crash

DESOTO COUNTY -- A Lake Placid driver was killed and a passenger seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash on SR 70 on Oct. 29, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

According to the FHP report, the accident occurred at 11 p.m. on SR 70 near Northeast Guyan Avenue.

The sedan was traveling east on State Road 70, approaching NE Guynn Avenue when the driver, a 27-year-old Lake Placid man, lost control of the vehicle, the FHP report states. The vehicle entered the grass shoulder and overturned. Both the driver and a passenger were ejected.

The driver was pronounced deceased. A passenger, a 32-year-old Lake Placid man, was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
