LAKEPORT — A 90-year-old Okeechobee woman was killed Saturday morning when she reportedly drove her golf cart in front of an SUV.
According to the FHP report, the accident occurred at approximately 9:45 a.m. on March 11.
The golf cart was traveling west on the grass shoulder along the north side of State Road 78, east of Pine Way. The SUV was also westbound on SR 78.
According to the FHP report, the golf cart turned left and attempted to cross the travel lanes of State Road 78, in front of the approaching SUV.
The driver of the golf cart was pronounced deceased on the scene. The 75-year-old man driving the SUV had minor injuries. The accident remains under investigation.
