Big O Teen Anglers announce August tournament results

OKEECHOBEE — The Big O Teen Anglers held their August tournament on Saturday, Aug. 26, out of Okeetantie with 17 anglers participating. It was a great day of fishing. There were 34 bass caught weighing a total of 80.99 lbs. with zero dead fish. The largest bass caught was in the 9-13 age group at 6.97 lbs. by Derrik Steinmetz. 

9 to 13 age group
• First place - Derrik Steinmetz with 10.24 lbs. and a Big Fish of 6.97 lbs.;
• Second place - Katie Fender with 8.49 lbs.;
• Third place - Baylee Stephens with 7.58 lbs.

14 to 19 age group
• First place - Holden Hawkins with 7.60 lbs.;
• Second place - Katelyn Straight with 6.92 lbs. and a Big Fish of 6.92 lbs.;
• Third place - Tanner Seabolt with 6.14 lbs.

Every month, boat captains that volunteer their Saturday morning to the youth anglers, therefore we’d like to extend our thanks and appreciation to the following: David Straight, Jamie Stephens, Scott LaFave, Kim LaFave, Terry Seabolt, Paul Lynch, Nick Neswick, Adam Crum, and Jim Newell.

On Sept. 16, the BOTA, OHS and Cattlemen’s Association will host a pancake breakfast at Applebee’s to benefit the David Daniel Foundation. David Daniel was a member of the Big O Teen Anglers and the Okeechobee High School Fishing Clubs as well as a prize winning showman for the local Cattleman’s Association for several years.
