Big O Teen Anglers fish Lake Kissimmee

Posted

OKEECHOBEE — The Big O Teen Anglers held their October End of the Year Classic at Lake Kissimmee. Twenty-two youth anglers spent the weekend at Grape Hammock and although fishing wasn’t very good, the kids had fun. It was a great weekend of fishing, play, building friendships and great food!

There were 66 Bass caught weighing a total of 87.68 pounds with no dead fish. The largest Bass caught was in the 14-19 age group at 3.65 pounds by Tanner Seabolt. Great job Tanner!

This month’s standings were as follows:

9-13 Age Group
• Kylar Koedam placed first with 13.04 pounds; and
• Ryder Axt placed second with 9 pounds and Big Fish weighing 3.51 pounds.

• Evan Cote placed third with 7.69 pounds.

14-19 Age Group
• Tanner Seabolt placed first with 12.71 pounds and Big Fish weighing 3.65 pounds;
• Randy Worth placed second with 5.28 pounds; and
• Taylor McQuade placed third with 4.46 pounds.

This was the first overnight tournament this club has held in many years. Big thanks go out to the parents (Robbie & Courney Downs, Kim Courson, Dore Seabolt, LeaAnn Brittain & Jayson Farrell) who helped put this all together and helped it run very smoothly.

Every month,e boat captains volunteer their time to the youth anglers. The Big O Teen Anglers extend thanks and appreciation to: Jamie Stephens, Terry Seabolt, Paul Lynch, Nick Neswick, Pat Cote, Ben Purvis, Sr, Adam Crum, Billy Ellerbee, Norris Newhouse, Kyle Powers & Jim Newell. Thank you Norris for dropping everything to come be a captain with no notice.

Special thanks go out to Farrell’s Market for donating the pork butts, Okeechobee Fishing Headquarters, Garrards Bait & Tackle, Fast Break Bait & Tackle and many others for their continued support and sponsorship of this club.

If you know a youth angler between the ages of 9-19 who loves fishing or is interested in learning a new sport, please reach out to Danielle at 561 436-8491 or bota.danielle@gmail.com.
